In 1973, over 100 scientists in science and engineering fields from the Midwest had their first organizational meeting at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). For over 45 years, the Chicagoland chapter has led activities in the Midwest, especially in the city of Chicago and the suburbs, including public Open Seminars, NMSC, Summer Science Camp, Career Development Day, Summer Picnic and Membership Drive, Mentoring Program for High school students, Collaboration meeting with the Korean American Society on Biotech and Pharmaceuticals (KASBP) Illinois chapter, Mentoring with YG, Year-End Party, and Scholarship program for High School Seniors and Undergraduate Students, Midwest conference, UKC, etc.
UKC 2024 (ukc.ksea.org) in San Francisco from 08/21/2024 to 08/24/2024. The SEED program (seed.ksea.org) will commence on 08/20/2024. - Done!
Picnic on 09/14/2024 and Membership drive - Done!
Career Day in October - 10/16/2024 (Wed) Northwestern University, Evanston Campus!
Advanced Mento-Mentee program (high schooler ~ undergraduate) with applications opening in October. The program will run through March/2025
Career day in November, catering to high schoolers, graduates, and post-docs
Year-End Party in December, featuring the nomination of the next chapter President/officers and a Scholarship Ceremony for Senior High Schoolers and Undergraduates
Mid-term/New Year resolution meeting in January
Open Seminar in February
Midwest Regional Conference in March, including a Science talk and a Poster competition related to the advanced Mento-Mentee program
KSEA National Math and Science Competition (NMSC) in April, open to students in grades 4th to 12th (nmsc.ksea.org)
Sports championship in May
Lunch with local professionals is available throughout the year (limited seats and areas)
